In chapter 8, Jack gets mad at Ralph and calls a meeting. Jack asks all the boys to raise their hands if they don't think Ralph should be leader and none of the boys did. Jack was furious and stormed away and said he was no longer a part of their group. Jack ends up getting a few followers and they go and kill a mother boar and stick her head on a stick for the Beastie. Ralph and piggy move the fire down hill to their campsite and they start making changes that will better them. Simon names the boar's head Lord of The Flies because she is covered in them. Jack takes fire wood from Ralph and the other boys in the night. And Simon discovers they are the beasts.

In chapter 7, the boys travel to the other side of the island and Piggy stays behind with the younger kids. Ralph try's to go hunting with Jack and the hunters while they are over there and he hits the pig in the but with his spear and he was so excited and finally understood why hunting was so important as well. Ralph didn't want to leave Piggy alone on the other side of the island all night so Simon volunteered to go back and then Ralph and Jack went with a few other kids to the top of the mountain to find the Beastie because someone claimed to see it by where there fire was. Once they got to the top of the mountain the boys saw the Beastie and were terrified by its appearance so they ran back down as fast as possible to avoid the Beastie.

Chapter 3, 4, &5 Summmarys

                                                                     Chapter 3
In chapter three, Jack, Simon, and Ralph are having a conversation about everything they need to do. They already know that the fire isnt burning enough smoke to make a signal. Their next plan was to build shelter. Simon had started building two shelters, which were in position, but shaky. No one except Ralph, Jack, and Simon are doing any work. Jack wants to kill a pig because everyone wants meat, and he wont stop talking about it. Ralph is more focused on being rescued and making shelter.
                                                                     Chapter 4
In chapter four, Jack painted his face to be like a warrior. Ralph goes to check on the fire, and finds out it died, and that the watchers are gone. Then Jack comes back with a pig, and is all happy and wants to kill it and cook it. Piggy and Ralph confront him about leaving the fire and letting it die. Everyone is very angry at Jack beacause they could have been rescued, but instead he decided to leave the fire and go catch a pig.

                                                                     Chapter 5
In chapter five, Ralph calls a meeting. He decided on some new rules, including one saying they have to keep the fire going. Jack gets annoyed with him, and all the littluns. The littluns are very scared of this beast thing that they have seen in their nightmares. Then Simon gets irritated with the things Ralph is saying, and they get in a fight.

Irony is using words to bring a meaning opposite of the literal meaning. Allusion is doing or saying something directly by implication. And symbolism is using things or investing things with symbolic meaning. Irony ties into Lord of the Flies because, in the book Ralph tells the boys to do many things and to follow by the rules they all agreed on and all of the boys especially the hunters and the younger kids do not obey his orders and there are major consequences to that. Allusion is applied in Lord of the Flies when Ralph tells all of the boys what to do, or when Jack is bossing Piggy around, there are many more examples but those are two of the best. And symbolism is used in Lord of the Flies with the conch shell and the fire, everyone on the island uses the conch shell to keep order and power restricted with everyone so that anyone can say what they need to, and the fire is a symbol of hope and a chance of being rescued, all of the boys rely on the fire for a possible passing ship to see and to cook their food so it also can symbolize survival as well.

What does the conch symbolise

The symbolism of the conch can be translated in many different ways. I think the conch as more than one symbolic meaning. The conch can symbolise a chance of savior, the boys listen and respect one another's thoughts when they are meeting and the conch brings them together and without the horn and the conch in general there is no unity which brings me to my next thought. I also think the conch can symbolize unity when they have the conch the boys know there role and know to join together and the conch is basically the basis of their survival giving them hope, sexurity, and belief or trust in one another.

Chapter 1 & 2 summary

                                                                     Chapter 1
Ralph and Piggy meet each other on the island. They try to figure out what happened and if they are the only ones on the island. Then they find a conch shell, and use it to try and call other people on the island. They ended up finding lots of kids, but no adults. They realize they need to decide on a leader. Everyone votes for Ralph. Simon, Jack, and Ralph go check out the rest of the island, while Piggy stayed back and watched the other kids. Jack, Simon, and Ralph ended up finding the spot where the plane crashed.
                                                                     Chapter 2

Everyone gets together and they have a meetting. They find out that the Queen knows this island exsists, so they know they will be rescued eventually. To help catch a ships attention they go to the top of the mountain and start a fire. Then they realize there its not making any smoke, and starts burning out of control. Piggy explains to them that starting the fire first wasnt very  smart. They should have made shelter down where it was warm and found food before they started the fire.
